Hello Admin & All, biggrin

I am interested in suspension design using CATIA, and what I'm looking for really is already done in this website ''Independent front suspension or (Macpherson Strut Suspension )''

So could you ,Admin, please post a tutorial explaining step by step from the beginning about '''' how you created the front suspension''''' that you've done, that is shown in BND Videos.
Because I will do exactly the same, what you've done, for Peugeot 206
and I just have the basics of CATIA cry

I am sure that you will help me as you help the others in this forum smile

Best Regards,

Legend,

I am working on a suspension design guide which I used to design the C3 Corvette upgrade. I will pass it along when it's more complete (in a few days).

In the meantime, I suggest you begin putting together a glossary of terms for suspension design. By doing this, you'll find that one definition sometimes leads you to other terms and definitions. This is a learning technique that I have strongly recommended to all my students in the past.

I would suggest starting with:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automotive_suspension_design
http://auto.howstuffworks.com/car-suspension.htm
http://www.carbibles.com/suspension_bible.html

regards,

Bill

Hello Everyone,

I am an Automotive Engineering student. I have been assigned a task to design a Macpherson Strut suspension system in CATIA for a small VAN/Utility Vehicle and analyse it.

I have already gone through the basic knowledge recommended by you in the earlier comments. I have elementary knowledge of CATIA, therefore I request for your help in providing me some tutorials in CATIA for suspension design. It would be even more helpful if you can share some CAT files for me to refer.

My email id is - nikhildhawan87@gmail.com

Thanks & Regards
Nikhil Dhawan

First - Excellent JOB! Some really great tools and thanks for sharing them.
Second, I too am building a C3. I'm not a CATIA user (Rhino - Nurbs) and a lot of Excel.
I have created a double wishbone IRS with inboard brakes using C5 uprights. The front suspension is a double wishbone using C7 uprights. Set the IFS up with front steer. It is a full on race car.
Now, my question; have you built a Brake(s) analysis tool? Any Aero analysis in the offing?

Again, thanks a lot.

Had I known of this site when I was in Malaysia, I'd have looked you up and bought you a beer or 2!

Cheers - Jim

Ask yourself about the suspension arrangement of the suspension. Hope you help: When to dampen upright, in front or rear bridges ??? What type of vehicle does this apply?
